Every year for four days over New Year, the founders of Ulpotha invite friends and family to celebrate New Year's Eve with the villagers and guests. Ulpotha gets very busy at this time and there is normally a big party that often lasts well into the early hours of the next morning. Guests who come at this time of the year are often returning guests who come to enjoy the celebrations - not only the yoga. The NYE week ends up being more like a holiday featuring a big house party - where festivities are the order of the day - than a retreat.
Though the experience of these celebrations are more often than not unforgettable in Ulpotha's surroundings, we advise you to avoid this period if you are looking for a quiet yoga retreat.
